If you are NOT concerned with the QUALITY of your archives, and just want "remember the moment" - type image-reproduction, then this might be OK for you. The software lacks the serious power and range of manipulation necessary to deal with high-contrast and vivid-colour situations. And then you wouldn't even be able to afford the Scanner! And at only 5-megapixels - well, let's just say that you would need more like 25-megapixels to get a quality reproduction. Slide film, even by today's standards, is considered extremely high-resolution, and this scanner is totally inadequate for the task. To give the reproductions a "poor" rating would be generous. I have many Black & White negatives and Colour Slides (K-25, K-64, and Ektachrome) that I wanted to scan and archive on my hard drive, and later burn to a photo/data-disc.įor the most part, scanning of the b&w negs went OK, and the resulting photos on the HD are decent, at best. Setup & Installation went smoothly - no major hiccups. This Pandigital Scanner was purchased for me as a Christmas gift.
